BBFC





The examiners concentrate on 9 things whilst reviewing:

  • bad language
  • threat
  • dangerous behavior 
  • drugs 
  • violence 
  • sex and nudity
  • weapons 
  • themes
  • discrimination 


U - U stands for universal, a U movie should be suitable for all audiences aged four and over.

















PG- this stands for Parental Guidance. this means a film is suitable for general viewing bu some scenes may be unsuitable for younger children.











12 amd 12A- this means that he content may not generally suitable for children under 12. No one under the age of 12 is allowed to view a 12a film unless they are assisted by an adult.








15 - no one under 15 is allowed to see a 15 film at the cinema or buy or rent them as they are unsuitable.





18- films rated 18 are for adults, no one under 18 is allowed to see them in the cinema or buy or rent. They aren't suitable o
